Catherine Bowdler

I graduated from Loughborough College of Art and design in 1996 where I specialised in Printed Textiles BA(Hons) and went on to study a PGCE in Art and design in Birmingham.

Whilst I am currently printing mostly on paper, my textile background still forms a large part of the design process. All my work is printed completely by hand using traditional methods. The colours are mixed by hand and work is printed in very low editions. Images for screen prints are formed from my own original drawings and developed into designs.

I am particularly influenced by mid 20th century textiles, ceramics and crafts, and whilst I never restrict myself to particular themes, I am frequently inspired by plants and the natural world, pattern and colour
